Joanna Nowakowska-Grunt dalam jurnalnya yang berjudul Strategy of Distribution in Food Industry Companies menguraikan hasil penelitiannya pada organisasi yang menggunakan sebuah model saluran distribusi produk makanan.

Di bagian Pendahuluan, Joanna mengungkapkan bahwa Strategi yang diadopsi perusahaan akan memiliki dampak terhadap perkembangan perusahaan. Strategi yang tepat dan kuat akan menghantarkan perusahaan pada kesuksesan bisnis dan perusahaan dan Strategi yang lemah akan menghantarkan perusahaan pada kebangkrutan perusahaan atau hanya sekedar mampu bertahan di tengah persaingan pasar. Sehingga dengan demikian strategi menjadi elemen penting dalam manajemen bisnis.

Saat ini, para manajer selalu dihadapkan dengan tiga pertanyaan strategis yang fundamental terkait upaya perusahaan dalam memahami apa dan bagaimana menawarkan sesuatu kepada konsumen untuk memuaskan kebutuhannya. Pertanyaan tersebut adalah sebagai berikut :
